The 2019 Alsame Conference is scheduled for May 3, 2019 at Grand Valley State University and the Alsame leadership team is proud to announce that the theme is “Build, Innovate and Succeed.” Workshops will be interactive and address issues that Latino/a students face in their communities today.
Salvador Lopez is a part of the conference planning committee and explained the group’s decision in this year’s theme, “The conference theme is important because it sets the tone for the type of workshops, conversations, and experiences high school students will have.” The committee hopes that the Build, Innovate and Succeed theme will impact students in the following ways:
Build: Students will be encouraged to explore ways to build communities, relationships, and networks.
Innovate: Many questions will be explored, including; how can you build a network using today’s technology? Some of the most successful leaders have been innovative. How will you change the world?
Succeed: Students will explore how they can make an impact in high school, college, and beyond! Conference workshops will be led by many successful Latino/a leaders and students will be asked to think critically about what they can do now to impact their future.
The Alsame conference committee is looking for workshop presenters and a call for proposals registration page is now open.
