Planning for the 2026 ALSAME Youth Conference is well underway, and we’re excited to partner with this year’s host, Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo, Michigan. We’ll welcome high school students, community members, and advocates from across the state for a day of learning, connection, and inspiration.
Submit a Workshop Proposal
We’re excited to invite community members from across Michigan to submit a workshop proposal for consideration. Please complete the Presenter Interest Form to have your workshop considered for our May 8, 2026 conference.
If selected, presenters should plan to:

Arrive at WMU by 8:30 AM

Lead workshops beginning at 10:00 AM
-
Stay through the end of the conference at 2:40 PM
More details will be shared with presenters as the conference date approaches.
Potential Workshop Topics
We welcome workshops that support students’ growth, identity, and future pathways. Suggested topics include:

Latino/a/x culture and how it intersects with career paths

Mental health and wellness

Postsecondary education and navigating college

Identity and leadership

AI/technology

College campus services and student support

Financial aid

Navigating barriers, self-advocacy, and post-graduate success

Workshop Guidelines
To help create an engaging experience for students, workshops should be:

30 minutes
-
Interactive
-
Enhanced with visuals whenever possible
-
Not specific to only one college or university
-
Creative, student-centered, and encouraging
