2018 Alsame Scholarship Recipients Recognized at Fundraiser

Two 2018 Alsame scholarship recipients were recognized at the Alsame fundraiser event at PizzaPlex in Detroit, MI on July 13th. Alsame scholarships are intended to recognize and support students who, through their past activities or educational aspirations, have indicated an interest in the advancement of underrepresented groups in the United States.

The two students recognized are Anngeliz Lian Rodriguez and Jose Cortes. Anngeliz graduated from Western International High School in Detroit. She plans to attend the University of Michigan-Dearborn in the fall where she will major in biochemistry. Jose graduated from Innovation Central High School in Grand Rapids.  He plans to attend Western Michigan University in the fall where he will pursue a degree in Community and Regional Planning or Civil Engineering.

Congratulations to Anngeliz and Jose! All of the donations and ticket sales from the July 13th event will go towards the 2019 Alsame scholarships. Alsame’s mission to help Latino youth obtain a college education would not be possible without the help and support of donors, partners, and board members. Adelante!
