Apply to host the 2023 Alsame Latinx Youth Conference now!

The Alsame Executive Board is excited to announce that the online questionnaire form is now open for Alsame institutional members that wish to submit a request to host the 2023 Alsame Latino Youth Conference. Many colleges and universities have hosted the conference over the years, including Central Michigan University, Ferris State University, Michigan State University, Grand Valley State University, Saginaw Valley State University, and Wayne State University.

The host institution is responsible for most of the conference’s expenses, including campus space, student transportation, student meals, and keynote and workshop presenter dues. The Alsame E-Board is responsible for providing a recommended conference agenda or blueprint, connections to high school counselors across the state, relationships with local, state, and national workshop speakers, and historical knowledge and expertise on how to execute a high-quality and interactive conference that is unlike any other. The Alsame E-Board is also responsible for organizing the College and Career Fair that takes place at the conference.

The conference host benefits by having hundreds of Latinx students visit their campus from all across the state while supporting Alsame’s mission to encourage and inspire Latinx students to pursue post-secondary education after graduating high school. The host can use its ”home field advantage” to brand the conference to their liking and provide a campus tour as part of the conference (often an optional component). Past conference evaluations have confirmed that hosting the conference is a big benefit because it allows many students to visit a campus they otherwise would not have visited. You may review the 2019 Alsame Conference Summary here. The 2022 conference summary will be shared sometime this summer. The conference is organized by Alsame once a year but was cancelled in 2020 and 2021 due to the on-going COVID-19 pandemic.

Please note that institutions reserve the right to cancel hosting the conference due to the on-going pandemic and Alsame will work with the host closely to make sure the safety of all parties is involved remains a priority throughout the planning process.
