The Alsame Latino Youth Conference is on Friday, May 3, 2019 at Grand Valley State University and we could not be more excited! This will be GVSU’s first time hosting the conference and we expect 500-600 students to attend. The conference theme is BUILD, INNOVATE & SUCCEED. Our keynote performer will be Denice Frohman (pictured above and below).
We also have a great lineup of speakers and performers, including:
Dr. D.F. Arnold, Mixed Roots Collective, Sam Centellas, Adriana Almanza, Carlos Martinez, Kelsey Perdue, Dr. Francisco “Paco” Ollervides, Dr. Tamara Barrientos, Carmen Stricker, and Michael Guerra.

Students are coming from all over Michigan including, Detroit, Lansing, Grand Rapids, Hart, Holland, Pontiac, Saginaw, and Wyoming.
Our Agenda:
8:00 – 9:30 a.m. – Check-in & Light Breakfast at the Russel H. Kirkhof Center
9:30 a.m. – Alsame & GVSU Welcome at the Haas Center for Performing Arts
10:00 a.m. – Keynote Performance from Denice Frohman
10:45 a.m. – Lunch & College Fair
12:45 p.m. – Workshop Session 1
1:45 p.m. – Workshop Session 2
2:45 p.m. – GVSU Housing and Recreation Center Student-Led Tours
3:30 p.m. – Students depart
A light breakfast and lunch will be provided for all guests. We are also happy to announce that we have a great group of volunteers ready to motivate our young people to pursue a post-secondary education. We could not put this conference together without our West Michigan partners and supporters.
Part of the conference will include the Alsame College Fair to expose students to over 25 colleges and universities.
